Salmon DNA (PDRN) Microneedling

What is Salmon DNA (PDRN)

PDRN skin treatment is a regenerative treatment that uses polydeoxyribonucleotide compounds to stimulate skin repair, support collagen production, and improve overall skin quality. In aesthetic, this treatment is used to activate biological pathways involved in tissue regeneration and dermal recovery.

PDRN is a biological compound extracted from salmon DNA that has been purified and processed for use in medical and cosmetic applications.

Why Salmon DNA? Salmon DNA is structurally very similar (95%-similarity) to human DNA. This molecular compatibility is precisely what makes PDRN so effective. When applied to the skin, your cells can recognize and utilize PDRN's components as if they were your own, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into your skin's natural repair and regeneration processes.

PDRN isn't new to medicine. It has been used for years in regenerative medicine to treat wounds, burns and tissue damage. Doctors and researchers have long understood its ability to promote healing and tissue repair. Now, the beauty industry has caught on to what medical professionals have known for decades: PDRN is a powerhouse ingredient for skin regeneration.

How does Salmon DNA (PDRN) Microneedling Works?

  1. Reduces inflammation.
PDRN binds selectively to A2A receptors, decreasing inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6), increasing anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-10), and improving microcirculation. Clinically, patients experience less redness and irritation after procedures such as lasers or microneedling.
  2. Boosts collagen and elastin production.
By upregulating TGF-β and enhancing type I collagen deposition, PDRN increases fibroblast activity and improves elastin and hyaluronic acid production—resulting in smoother and plumper skin.
  3. Accelerates wound healing.
PDRN stimulates angiogenesis (new blood vessels), granulation tissue formation, keratinocyte migration, and re-epithelialization. This significantly supports post-procedure recovery, including after lasers and RF microneedling.
  4. Enhances cellular repair and energy.
It provides nucleotides and nucleosides—the essential building blocks for DNA replication and repair—leading to stronger cell turnover and a more resilient skin barrier.
  5. Protects against UV-induced damage.
PDRN reduces UV-triggered apoptosis (cell death), promoting brighter, healthier-looking skin.

Key Skin Concerns Treated by Salmon DNA (PDRN) Microneedling:

  • Aging & Wrinkles: Stimulates fibroblasts to increase collagen (Types I and III) and elastin production, reducing fine lines and sagging skin.
  • Acne Scars & Texture: Breaks down scar tissue and promotes regeneration, smoothing acne scars, reducing pore size, and improving skin texture.
  • Hyperpigmentation & Tone: Evens out skin tone by reducing pigmentation and sun damage, leaving a brighter complexion.
  • Dehydration & Barrier Repair: Strengthens the skin barrier and provides deep hydration, offering a plumper appearance.
  • Inflammation & Dullness: Calms reactive or sensitive skin, including rosacea-prone skin, while increasing radiance.
  • Accelerated Healing: Ideal for reducing downtime and redness after intensive aesthetic procedures.

Treatment Protocol & Expectations

  • Optimal Series: A course of 4 treatments is the standard recommendation to achieve significant skin repair, tightening, and rejuvenation.
  • Spacing: Sessions are usually spaced 2-4 weeks apart to allow for proper collagen production and cellular turnover.
  • Results Timeline: Subtle improvements, such as improved hydration, are visible within days. However, more significant results appear within 2–4 weeks as skin regenerates.
  • Maintenance: To maintain the skin-boosting effects, follow-up treatments are recommended every 3–4 months.
